Wow! Both excellent entries, but I'm gonna have to go with Carlos', since I think his Darkseid looks WAY cool (very Kirby-esque even).
Even though Koi's has a bit more of an action-like edge with SS blasting Darkseid rather than just standing around, I simply like Carlos' rendition of the characters more, the shot (angle) itself and the use of blacks (on Darkseid) a bit more than Koi's.
So I vote for Carlos, though both look awesome! Great job, dudes!

Another difficult vote to cast but my vote is for Carlos. I love the heavy blacks on Darkseid. Way to turn it out again guys!
Maybe Darkseid was about to punch a kitten or somethin and it sets off Surfer!?
Hard one, but I like the belt and faces on this one. Plus, it looks like the battle can't even be held on the page!

my vote goes to Carlos. His piece has much better form. Koi's Surfer seems off and his Darkseid looks like hes all arms and no chest. Sure Koi's does have more action but if your looking for an all around better work of art. Go with Carlos.

The gloves and face look awsome.
Turnbull's Darkseid is suffering from some proportion issues. his legs look a little weak, might be beause he doesnt have the costume I'm familiar with... dont recall that square codpiece.(??)

Very loose and dynamic compared to the stiff Koi piece. This one gets my vote.
Darkseid looks AWESOME here. He isn't vulnerable-looking in this piece.
I like the action of the other piece and feel that to be brutally honest Turnbull's is the much superior layout. However, I have to vote for Carlitos based solely on his Darkseid. It leaps off the page and saves the otherwise second-place scene. Silver Surfer needs to be "doing" more to be honest. However, Darkseid looks so rad that he trumps the other piece in and of himself. Kudos to both, another FANTASTIC battle! Thanks!!

me too. koi's piece is nice but to me, it's kind of cheesy. it's like the first pose you think of. also, his rendering looked rushed, even by ironchef standards.
even though CD's is not action packed it has contrast between lights and dark as well as thought out acting. the blacks are nice too on the baddie.

Yeah D'anda gets my vote due to the sheer amount of work he put into it in an hour thats a really good Darksied, plus his anatomy is a little above tartabull's. and the silver surfers outside arm on tartabulls is a little weak in comparison to the rest of his pic, it's like a blaring spot on his pic .
While not as dynamic, I apppreciate the completeness of the image. Very very tight competition.

got to give it up for D'anda. the Kirby Krackle pushed it over the edge for me. big ups to both competitors, though. both pieces are tight.

the darkseid was the kicker for me... Hats off to both chef's
never voted before but i gotta go with los-ee. ill give some reasons why aside from just saying im voting for me mate. first, i feel his silver surfer captures more of the idea behind silver. when i think of the character the first thing that pops into my mind is moebius, serene, majestic. i mean this is a guy who takes on galactus. darksied isnt going to intimidate him. next, the darksied is solid as all hell, kirby crackle and all! very nice! i will say this also, it's crazy how clean carlos does these things. its supposed to be a sketch, not a finished pin up, lol! his definitely comes off in person as a very finished piece. on Koi's front. I really like the action of it. the surfer looks very powerful! the anatomy very solid. I almost wouldve voted for his but the darksied just looks a wee bit wonky to me. it doesnt appear as if he has a torso, also the face lacks a little personality. overall both did really well. carlos took a gamble by going for the majestic surfer, as a lot of younger voters probably havent seen moebiuss surfer, but i'm thinking it may pay off. if it doesnt koi definitely deserves a shot at victory, he went in with all guns blazing! congrats to both!

This is the pinup I'd want on my wall. I agree with Ale--I'm totally getting a "Parable" vibe. Except Darkseid looks way more fierce than Galactus.

Even though it doesn't represent an actual battle, the artwork is quite powerful. Excellant use of blacks...raw energy!
